Methodology information

Phyllostachys Edulis (Bamboo Moso)

Methodology reference

  • AC-BPE-2025 v5.0

Carbon mechanism

  • Carbon Sequestration (Carbon Removal)

  • Natural carbon sinks

Technical characteristics

  • Species: Phyllostachys Edulis

  • Location: France and Europe

  • Carbon sequestration project duration: 20 years

  • Cultivation protocol: fertilization, biostimulation without pesticides

  • Harvest cycle: annual, at a rate of 30 to 50% of the biomass, without any deforestation

  • Scientific method based on plot trials conducted in France and Europe since 2021

Scientific and field approach

Carbon sequestration of the crop taken into account

  • Above-ground biomass (stems and leaves)

  • Below-ground biomass (rhizomes and roots)

  • Soil organic carbon

Co-benefits of the crop

SDG 8
SDG 9
SDG 12
SDG 13
SDG 15

Methodological details

Calculation method

Method developed using field measurements since 2021 (plot-by-plot counting, diameter measurements, taking into account taper and wall thickness when calculating above-ground biomass per hectare)

Audit

A rigorous audit created by AgroCarbone, incorporating real-time plot monitoring (on the AgroCarbone register) and the development of monitoring software for external auditors

Traceability

Project registration on the blockchain and tokenization of carbon credits to ensure traceability and uniqueness, and combat double counting of offset projects (direct link between project owner, auditor and buyer)
