AgroCarbone Standard

A unique carbon standard

The AgroCarbone standard is an international registry covering GHG sequestration and removal projects on the voluntary carbon market (VCM)
The standard certifies and validates afforestation projects in France and accross Europe that create genuine natural carbon sinks designed to sequester carbon sustainably  (Carbon Removal)
These projects naturally contribute to the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Unrivalled rigour, transparency and quality of carbon credits on the carbon market

AgroCarbone aims to promote afforestation projects in France and across Europe in order to offer project developers a single standard for certifying high value-added carbon credits

The AgroCarbone standard, and in particular the methodologies we have developed, are based on scientific data and rigorous field analyses carried out in collaboration with internationally recognised scientific organisations

Our methodologies are unique and tailored at specific crops, enabling us to quantify the carbon sequestration of the various projects as accurately as possible

AgroCarbone uses an innovative registry to guarantee the traceability, transparency and security of the carbon credits issued
The registry uses blockchain technology to structure the process relating to the issuance, circulation and use of carbon credits, whilst ensuring real-time verifiability
Each carbon credit generated by a planting project is represented in the forme of a unique digital token.
Transparency is at the heart of the register managed by AgroCarbone, as every action is recorded in a public, immutable registry accessible to all

AgroCarbone Advisory and Technical Committee

AgroCarbone relies on an external advisory and technical committee whose purpose is to ensure that AgroCarbone's mission is consistent with its role as a standard-setter

The role of the Advisory and Technical Committee is to approve or reject new planting projects submitted under the standard, to accept or reject amendments to AgroCarbone’s rules or procedures, and to provide or set out new strategic directions for the coming years

Certification of the standard and projects by Bureau Veritas

External project validation and certification body (VVB)

All projects certified under the AgroCarbone standard must be approved and verified by accredited independent auditors holding the highest accreditations within the voluntary carbon market (VCM) and, more specifically, in relation to the sequestration of natural carbon sinks

It was only natural that the AgroCarbone standard turned to Bureau Veritas Certification to validate projects wishing to use the standard to monetise the carbon credits associated with the project

Bureau Veritas is one of the world’s leading verification bodies, and we are fortunate that it has agreed to partner with AgroCarbone to validate and certify not only the calculation methodologies but also each project benefiting from the AgroCarbone standard

Our standard therefore enjoys international recognition, thereby strengthening the robustness of the carbon credits held on the AgroCarbone registry
